Caught it yet?

You have already if you are hoarding frozen food, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and buying guns. That will be the last item on your list that means you got it and you go it good. What is it? FEAR.

If you are not immune compromised or a sick old person and live in a shithole trailer park aka nursing home than you are already better off than most as we face down COVID.   I have said ignorance is not bliss its ignorance and when you are ignorant you as STUPID.  And stupid does stupid shit.

I am seriously received that my gag order, literally my vow of silence, I was planning to enact next month to selective people is now like this disease, being spread wide.  My cards have arrived and once we can get past social distancing I plan on passing them out or just throwing them down with my proper protective gear on.   Keep the fuck away forever. Thanks.

The one thing that has been accomplished is spreading fear by enacting moral panic.  Exactly what were you doing with your ass, your home and your health before this virus?  I am assuming not wiping your ass, not cleaning the joint and taking care of yourself, spitting, coughing and sneezing on anyone and everyone you contact.  So what about those food prep and delivery folks? Their hygiene is spot on right? I mean they have the sign in the toilet: Employees must wash hands before returning to work.  Explains those food virus outbreaks right? Did Chipolte not have them?

During the Spanish Flu (and learn why it was called that it was not because it was ground zero it was the one country calling attention to the pandemic) it was the Army who we are now asking to save us that spread it or not.  Again who the fuck knows despite the numerous studies and history and shit and wasn't Trump alive then? Seriously they tried it all where in one army unit they tried to instill a protocol for two select military groups. One had strict cleaning rituals the other standard ones. After 10 days it was all back to normal and little was accomplished other than the trial group probably had really dry skin.

I cannot stress that the current hodgepodge, piecemeal bullshit from curfews to closing businesses are all just again responses to a Government that was clearly asleep at the wheel, shame Jesus was not a back seat driver. And to think Trump courts those Jesus loving crowds like he did Junior Miss America's. But this has exposed a great deal failure across the boards and we are all accountable for failing to hold those we elect accountable.

The end of democracy parallels the advance of this disease as we look to China the home of the outbreak.  What kind of Government do they have? Oh yeah Communist and in the epicenter of the Huhan province were utterly fucked up from case one.  If you have time review the endless articles and history behind that colossal failure.  I mean you are on house arrest right?

I shared the story behind Italy's fuck up and in turn their Government has never been known to be proactive other than making sure the trains run on time. Oh wait.

Sure GG is worried, why? I am 60, have had major oral work done and had been traveling all during the time frame when Patient Zero hit the deck, I am a bitch and Misanthrope and it might be those two qualities that saved my life.  I had not been anywhere other than NYC at the theater with old folks and on Subways with filthy folk and fuck... Oh but I am a clean freak and my Father is smiling laughing about that as I am so my father's daughter.  And oddly I had not gone back to germ ground zero, public schools, during the conventional season of flu and colds which is when most Subs work and in turn are exposed to said shit.  Oh wait, me got a flu shot as I knew I was going to be on planes, trains and automobiles in the months ahead.   And I clean every hotel before settling in, brought my own linens and pillows as I had a storage unit with my shit to make my endless stays in Nashville comfortable.  The irony was the last stay was at a new hotel and it has now been torn to shreds by a tornado right after I left. Well that makes it clean.

Fear is the one thing I fear as since you cannot wipe your ass, maintain social distance in normal times, care for your health and those around you then I fear we are fucked.

The Virus of Fear

The panic that often occurs during a health crisis or in the aftermath of a natural disaster can – and has – led to spasms of irrational violence. Lack of truthful public information can lead to conspiracy theories, which become lethal when politicians or the media deliberately stir them up.

NEW YORK – In September 1923, the Great Kanto earthquake devastated large parts of Tokyo, mostly owing to firestorms. Rumors spread, and were often repeated in the mainstream press, accusing Koreans, a despised and poor minority, of planning to take advantage of the disaster by starting a violent rebellion. Japanese vigilantes, armed with swords, bamboo spears, and even guns, then set upon anyone who sounded or looked Korean. Up to 6,000 people were murdered as police looked on and sometimes took part.

This was not some uniquely Japanese phenomenon. Mobs massacring unpopular minorities remain all too common. When Hindus started killing Muslims in Delhi recently, the Indian police were as passive, or as culpable, as the Japanese authorities were in 1923. One need not go far back in European or American history to find similar, or even worse, cases of lynching and mass murder.Irrational violence often arises from panic. And panic can easily occur during a health crisis or in the aftermath of a natural disaster. Lack of truthful public information can lead to conspiracy theories, which become lethal when politicians or the media deliberately stir them up.

In Japan in 1923, the Ministry of Home Affairs told policemen to watch out for Koreans who seemed to be looking for trouble. In Delhi, a local politician of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Kapil Mishra, incited people to violence by promising to send in mobs to break up a peaceful Muslim protest if the police didn’t crack down hard first.Could the current panic about the new coronavirus, COVID-19, have similar consequences? Fortunately, there have been no massacres so far. But the behavior of some politicians has been disturbing, to say the least. In Italy, Matteo Salvini, the far-right opposition leader, said that migrants were a threat to the country as carriers of the virus, and criticized the government for rescuing a number of African refugees. Right-wing nationalists in Greece are calling for concentration camps for refugees to protect the population from infection. And then there is US President Donald Trump. His main worry is that panic about COVID-19 will hurt the stock markets. So, the first thing he did was to accuse his political opponents of “politicizing” the epidemic. This clearly is not the best way to keep the public properly informed, and it provides a solid basis for conspiracy theories. Trump’s son Donald, Jr. went further, and proclaimed that Democrats were hoping the disease would kill millions of people just to drag his father down. Tom Cotton, a Republican US Senator from Arkansas and a possible future presidential candidate, repeated debunked speculation that the Chinese government had manufactured COVID-19 as a bioweapon.

Such absurdities are sometimes softened a little when they cause too much of a public outcry. But the damage is already done. A friend in New York observed last week how a large white male accosted two Asian-looking women, telling them he hoped the coronavirus would kill them, “just like we did to your people in Hiroshima.”

This man was clearly unhinged. One would hope that most Americans, including most white male Americans, would be appalled by such behavior. The problem is that when well-known senators and other high officials start peddling malicious conspiracy theories, unhinged people feel permitted to say and do things they might normally not. It doesn’t take many unhinged people to form a violent mob. This is why it is wrong to dismiss people who go on murder sprees in the name of a racial, political, or religious ideology as simply mad loners. Figures like Anders Breivik, who murdered 77 people in Norway in 2011 as part of his war to save the West from Marxists, multiculturalists, and Muslims, may indeed be lone operators. But the people who spread conspiracy theories that inflame the minds of such killers bear at least some responsibility. The same goes for Muslim extremists who call for a holy war on wicked infidels, or politicians who claim that refugees carrying terrible diseases are threatening their countries.COVID-19 is a threat, like all illnesses that can lead to pandemics.

And yet Trump tried to slash the budget for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has not replaced the National Security Council teams responsible for pandemic response. The president and his supporters don’t trust experts, and the man appointed to lead the fight against the coronavirus, Vice President Mike Pence, is skeptical about science. But science, not prayers, will be needed to contain a disease that threatens the globe. Building big walls or pushing people into concentration camps, apart from being inhumane, are not effective remedies. And using the crisis to incite hatred could have deadly consequences. What is needed is expertise, international cooperation, and words from our political leaders that seek to calm fears. Unfortunately, in too many parts of the world, we are seeing the exact opposite.
